Bret Schafer is the coordinator for communication, social media, and digital content for the Alliance for Securing Democracy at the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF). Mr. Schafer has over ten years of experience in the film industry, serving as a development assistant at Cartoon Network, a development producer at Citizen Skull productions, and as a freelance writer at Warner Brothers. Additionally, he worked as a radio host in Budapest. Mr. Schafer was the editor-in-chief of Public Diplomacy Magazine at the University of Southern California (USC), and has been published by the Chronicle of Social Change, LAist.com, WitnessLA.com, and USC’s Center on Public Diplomacy. Mr. Schafer earned his master’s degree from USC, and his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.
